Fallen Princesses: Not So Happily Ever After! (10 Photos)

Vancouver based photographer, Dina Goldstein, knocks it out of the box as she portrays our favorite fairy tale characters into the grim reality of life!

Life is not always a Fairy Tale. Prince charmings, castles and happily ever after stories only happen to 0.001% of the world. It is a false reality that’s being sold to kids across the globe. Finally, we have a rendition that’s a little more foreseeable.

Fallen Princesses is a photo book placing Fairy Tale characters into modern day scenarios. Her inspiration behind the project was initiated after she noticed how fascinated her daughters were with Disney characters.

“As a new mother I have been able to get a close up look at the phenomenon of young girls fascinated with Princesses and their desire to dress up like them. The Disney versions almost always have sad beginning, with an overbearing female villain, and the end is usually a happy one. The Prince usually saves the day and makes the victimized beauty into a Princess”… “I began to imagine Disney’s perfect princesses juxtaposed with real issues that were affected woman around me, such as illness, addiction and self-image issues”
